• LEAVE AND ATTENDANCE

1. Every student is expected to keep the attendance record of 80% during the year.
2. For an absence, a proper application must be written by the parent in the school diary, specifying the reason for the leave. In case of sick leave, the leave note should be supported by a medical certificate. A leave note should be submitted on the day the student re-joins the school.
3. The student’s name will be struck off the attendance register if she remains absent from the school for more than a month continuously, without taking a valid leave permission. The rejoining in such cases will be considered as re-admission. No guarantee or assurance for re-admission will be given to any student.

• RULES AND DISCIPLINE

Discipline is the continual exercise of the will, enlightened by the intellect so that it may act easily and habitually according to the right order and help the child to attain self mastery. 

1. The school expects every student to contribute to the good order of the school. Hence, every student is required to pay special attention to the rules of school discipline.
2. The students are responsible to the school authorities for their exemplary conduct both in and outside the school.
3. Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience or defiance of authority, or conduct injurious to the moral tone of the school, are sufficient reasons for taking serious actions.
4. Pupils must be punctual for morning assembly. Habitual late comers will be strictly dealt with.
5. Complete silence must be maintained while moving around along corridors from one class to another so as not to disturb classes at work.
6. Silence must also be observed outside the Principal’s office, the school office and the staff room (during class hours) so as not to disturb those at work.
7. No student is permitted to enter the teachers’ staff room or cross the Principal’s office during class hours.
8. No student is permitted to leave during class hours to either go to the water fountains, the cloak room, the canteen or any other place except for a valid and an urgent reason.
9. During recess, the students must vacate their classrooms and corridors and must go out to the grounds for their snacks.
10. Mobiles, books, newspapers, periodicals, magazines, and other articles must not be brought to the school without the knowledge and sanction of the Principal. They will be otherwise, with due reasons, confiscated.
11. No collection, for any purpose whatsoever, may be made in the school without the permission of the Principal. Parents are earnestly requested to make no personal gifts to the staff members. The Principal must always be contacted in this matter. Parents are not allowed to meet the teachers during school hours.
12. On birthdays, students are allowed to bring only a box of sweets to distribute in the class. Gifts, etc for students or teachers are strictly forbidden. Students may wear birthday dress but it must be simple and modest.
13. Students who leave the school premises during working hours without the permission of the Principal will be dealt with severely.
14. The Principal may penalise a child who is constantly out of class.

• CLEANLINESS AND ORDER

1. Students must ensure regular personal cleanliness and take care of hygiene.
2. All must consider it special responsibility to keep the school building and also the school premises clean and beautiful. Toilets must be used properly and left clean for others.
3. Every student must be particularly careful to avoid throwing waste, paper, fruit peels, ice candy sticks, etc. out of the windows onto the school grounds. Wastepaper baskets and bins provided should be used for the purpose.
4. Students should not patronise wayside vendors.

• COURTESY

1. The students shall always greet their teachers, elders and friends in a pleasant and low tone of voice, wherever they may meet them in school or outside. Running and shouting inside the school building is forbidden.
2. They shall always maintain a good posture when they sit, stand and walk.
3. They shall always try to be cheerful, composed and even tempered.
4. They shall be polite in speaking to one another avoiding the use of slang, loud talk and common expressions. General conversation during school hours will be in English only. Students disobeying this rule will be dealt with seriously.
5. The school motto—THY WILL BE DONE—should prompt them to live in joy and confidence in God, and to live with simplicity and harmony as one great family.
6. They shall always strive to be obedient to their parents and teachers, giving them the respect and the affection that is their due, accepting their guidance and corrections with gratitude.
7. It is the ‘Family Spirit’—that is the characteristic spirit of Jesus and Mary School. The children must learn to look upon the school as an extension of their home and do their best to cherish and preserve in school a spirit of love and happy living.

• CARE OF THE SCHOOL PROPERTY

1. Pupils should also take special care of school property i.e. furniture, apparatus etc. with the understanding that we RESPECT even that which does not belong to us. Any damage done to school property must be made good.
2. Pupils are requested to take care of personal property. School does not accept responsibility for the loss of books, money, tiffins etc.

• PRIVATE TUITIONS

1. The school discourages private tuitions. These undoubtedly make students lazy, irresponsible and dependent, to say nothing about inattention during class hours. In individual and genuine cases, the necessity of private tuitions will be considered and permission must be obtained by the parent or guardian from the principal, even if the tuition is taken by a tutor who is not a member of the staff.
2. In no event should the private tuitions clash with or take precedence over school hours, school tests and school examinations.
3. Parents are urged insistently to co-operate with the school by encouraging their children to do their homework with diligence and honesty and in forming regular study habits.

• Parent teacher Association

The Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A) is an active body, formed with an objective to work in the best interest of parents, teachers and students. The P.T.A. provides opportunities for a meeting between the parents, teachers and the students for the promotion of good mutual relations and to help exchange views on matters of general importance related to education and the development of the students and the school.

The P.T.A. organises coaching in Basketball and Hockey and the Management organises Dance and Karate coaching as regular activities around the year for the overall-development of students and it conducts various activities for teachers and parents.

Membership to the P.T.A. is compulsory and the school expects more involvement of parents in programmes that are specially organised for them and invites greater participation for the progressive development of the school.
